We are proud to announce that as part of the first tranche of UKAS accreditation decisions, SOCOTEC Certification UK Ltd has been granted UKAS accreditation for ISO 14001:2026, the latest revision of the internationally recognised environmental management system standard.
This means that we can now offer independent audits and certification against ISO 14001:2026 for any new and existing clients.
ISO 14001:2026 strengthens the EMS standard with updated requirements addressing climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable resource use. Key improvements include enhanced clarity, refined terminology, and stronger accountability mechanisms, with greater focus on environmental performance while preserving the Annex SL framework.
Transitioning from ISO 14001:2015
Organisations currently holding ISO 14001:2015 certification are encouraged to begin reviewing the transition timeline and updated requirements. Early preparation is strongly advised to ensure continued compliance and uninterrupted certification status.
- Certified organisations have until end of April 2029 to successfully transition to the new version of the standard.
- After 31st October 2027, all new 14001 certifications and re-certifications must be against the new version of the standard.
- You can choose to be assessed against the new version alongside a routine surveillance audit or re-certification.
Please get in touch if you have any questions related to the transition to ISO 14001:2026, we are here to support you every step of the way.
